Let us start of by saying we in no way support this petition for Scalabrine. If we had our choice it would at the very least be someone who made the allstar team or played more than 122 minutes (check it if you don’t believe us). But yet I digress! The reason were posting this is more out of some light hearted fun because someone one found yet another way to keep and irrelevant player relevant in the NBA. Yes! Scalabrine now has a Facebook page (doubt it was created by him) campaigning for him as the cover athlete for NBA2 k13. Let us know what you think, you already know what we think! Kobe Fade away NBA 2k12 | Can it be stopped?

So After getting numerous emails about this and having the unfortunate opportunity of experiencing it first hand I felt that a post was warranted for others of you going through the same frustrations.

For those of you who wonder what our issue or frustration is, it is basically a ~~glitch~~ cheat in NBA 2k12 that allows Kobe Bryant to hit 99 – 100% of fade away shots within a game (Great! Now those who didn’t know are probably going to start picking the Lakers and now there will be more people than ever doing the glitch). For those of you who just read that and are saying “just double team him” you obviously haven’t experienced our plight. Unfortunately, even then your generic double team doesn’t work. When using your standard double team you will come incredibly close to blocking but the results will still be the same. But as with anything, you do it enough times and I will find out a way to either stop it or make it less effective.

In the last game that this happened to me I began to realize a couple things about this move and decided to test it out for myself. The biggest exploit about this move is that it has to be done from a mid to close range and it is only effective when fading left or right. Given this I came to understand that there might be two way of effectively combating the move. Depending on your team it will dictate which one you use.

The first line of defense of against this move is your double team. However when double team you cant just set i in your defensive setting and let the computer do the rest of the work. Essentially the double team will have to be manually called and helped by you. The reason fro this being is because the double team should away be called and helped by either your power forward or your center. I tried helping with smaller position and the effectiveness of blocking and just general short disruption were very minimal. When helping with the defender keep in min that you do not want to control the guy that is being post up by Kobe. You want to be the other guy, the reason for this being is because your job is to determine which way Kobe is going to fade. We have found that for Kobe’s fade away to to work consistently he as to fade either right or left. The job is for you to see which way he is moving and reacting to covering with a block. Using this sort of help defense you will cause the quality of shot he is taking to drop significantly.

Option number 2 was spawned out of the smarter player. This being because when you essentially help out in the manner mentioned above, individuals will start dropping passes to the player you left open. The best combat to this is running the 1-3-1 zone and helping with the center. The beauty of this zone is that it covers you mid to close zone region well. So essentially when Kobe begins to post you can help with the center and if he takes the decision to pass to what appears to be an open man you will usually have anther player guarding the passing lane due to the shift of the zone.

And there yo ave it. Those tips should aide a little of your frustration, it will take practice but by second half your opponent will probably have changed up his offensive strategy and not be using Kobe so much. Leave you thoughts below as comments and let s know what you think.

It seems like Linsanity (doubt many people remember the original Vincanity) is not only making and demanding recognition in the real world but now the virtual world cant help but recognize the impact and direct reflection of his skill that is required. In NBA 2k12′s most recent roster update Jeremy Lin got a much needed rating boost from a 56 to a69. While the debate seems to circle around the argument of it being a too little or right on point evaluation, the fact still remains his hype warranted the boost.

Personally I feel 69 is far evaluation, this being because myself along with other are not convinced that Lin’s impact and efficiency will remain constant after Melo and Stoudmire are introduced back to the line-up. But while there introduction and impact should not warrant a decrease in his value, it could mean an increase if he is able to maintain his level of efficiency alongside to proven superstars. While I don’t want to give you my opinionated breakdown I think the increase well definitely translate to a positive correlation between the amount of people who use the Knick and the amount of people who use Jeremy Lin as the primary offensive threat on the knick. 1. PLAY AS A TEAM

I don’t know how many times I’ve played people online and all they do is dribble up with their best player and shoot a bad shot. It might work for awhile, but eventually, your luck WILL run out! There have been times where I have been losing by 15 points after the first quarter and even sometimes in the second quarter and then I end up beating my opponent by 15 or 20 points because the ball hog method did not work for them the whole game. This is definitely the most important tip and if you practice it, you will start to win more games. GUARANTEED!

2. UTILIZE THE POST

The post players can be the most deadly players in the game if used correctly. More than 80% of the people that I have played hardly ever throw the ball into the post. Most people’s excuse for not using the post is that, ” They can’t score as easily as the guards”. This is entirely not true. If you know how to use them correctly, they are very effective. Learning the post moves within the game can be a big game changer for you. Sure some post players are going to be able to score more easily than others, but using that post player the way there meant to be used will make your team more successful. For example, if you have Dwight Howard, you are going to want to learn the power moves since his strength has an extremely high rating within in the game. One of those power moves in the spin move. This is the simplest but most effective post move in the game in my opinion. Dwight will spin off the defender and jam it home for 2 points if the lane is clear and sometimes even on top of defenders. Now don’t get me wrong, this move will not work for every post player. Brian Scallabrini is not going to spin lighting fast right around his defender and dunk it over the guy that was on help defense. Like I said before, you have to know what the strengths and weaknesses of each post player are and then play to that style accordingly. Another huge thing that most people don’t realize is that your post players DO NOT have to score to be effective in the game. If you throw it into the post and get close to the basket, most of the time, defenders will come to help. This means they are leaving their man wide open for the shot. This is a game killer for the other team if you have 3-point shooters and you use this technique effectively.

3. THE POINT GUARD IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER

I know I said above that your post players can be your deadliest players, but that doesn’t mean that they’re the most important. Without your point guard, your team isn’t a team. The point guard decides whether your team wins 70 games…. or 10 games.

The five factors I use to grade a point guard are :

What’s his ball handling rating?
What’s his steal rating?
What’s his speed & quickness rating?
Can he shoot mid range-3 pointers?
Whats his pass rating?

4. LET THE COMPUTER PLAY DEFENSE ON THE GUY WHO HAS THE BALL

This one is pretty straight forward. Let the computer play defense on the guy who has the ball, not you. The reason I say this is because it is VERY hard to play as good of defense as the computer does. It’s nearly impossible to stop a “star” player like Lebron James or Kevin Durant if you are trying to guard them yourself. I suggest playing defense with the guy that it the farthest away from the ball. The only time I do suggest playing defense on the guy who has the ball is when it is in the post. It is easier to play defense in the post just because the post players aren’t running around in circles like the guards do. If you have a good enough post defender and you press the “right buttons” at the right time, you could end up with some steals and some blocks. Remember, offense wins games, but defense wins championships!

5. USE YOUR BENCH PLAYERS THE WAY THEY’RE SUPPOSE TO BE USED

Countless times whenever I play someone online, the first thing they will do when they get into the game is go into their Coach Settings and turn Auto Subs and Auto Timeout off. This is not a good idea! Your starters may be able to play well for the first couple of quarters and if your lucky, for three quarters. But if you keep them all in without substituting them out once for the entire game, they will fall apart are their ratings will drop drastically! So do yourself a favor and let the coaches make the substitutions for you. It will improve your overall game and you will notice a huge difference on how your team plays.

And that’s it. I guarantee if you follow those 5 tips above, you will win more games.
