With NBA Lives return to basketball simulation competition, 2ksports is pulling out all the stops to make sure they have what it takes to stay on top. During E3 we were graced with a plethora of demoed enhancements to NBA 2k13′s gameplay. For most 2k heads out there, the demoed allstar enhancements seemed to fall a bit short in its offereing. For most fan it felt like they were getting back something that had been taken form them years ago. For most the enhancements were good and at its core summarized that what 2ksports was offering was still compelling enough to warrant another year of purchasing (after all it still appears to be better than the competition). For most developers, knowing that people were going to purchase and you would probably maintain a commanding market share usually is enough prevent a huge disturbance of the force within. However, in regular 2ksports fashion, to ensure even further commitment to its fans and franchise, they chose to make a move that is not only out of traditional methods but also huge by way of affiliation.
The latest news about an enhancement to the game came by way of an addition to staff and from an unusual place: hip hop mogul’s Jay Z aka Sean Carter’s site Life+Times. In the announcement made by way of video (see below) Jay Z endorses the NBA 2k13 franchise (somewhat indirectly) with his song “Public Service Announcement” playing in the background. Given Jay Z’s accolades we can’t help but feel that the track list is going to get the overhaul that its been needing for years now. The only questions that will arise is whether or not recent industry “beef” will leave certain artist 0% chance of gracing the track list (more so speaking about those affiliated with Young Money). I guess we will have to wait and see.
But with all that being said the underlying message is: “Your Move NBA Live.”
