The 5 Best Point Guards in NBA 2K12

Below, I have listed the 5 best point guards that I think are in NBA 2K12. Of course your opinions might vary from mine. But these are who are I think are the best. They will be ranked 1-5 at the bottom after you scroll down through all the ratings.

The five factors I use to grade a point guard are :

  1. What’s his ball handling rating?
  2. What’s his steal rating? (Steals=Points)
  3. What’s his speed & quickness rating?
  4. Can he shoot mid range-3 pointers?
  5.  What’s his pass rating?

 Derrick Rose:

Ball Handling Rating-  95

Steal Rating- 67

Speed and Quickness Rating- 97 & 99

Mid Range- 3 Point Rating- 77 & 79

Pass Rating- 88

 Russell Westbrook:

Ball Handling Rating-91

Steal Rating- 89

Speed and Quickness Rating- 97 & 99

Mid Range- 3 Point Rating- 75 & 76

Pass Rating- 88

 Rajon Rondo:

Ball Handling Rating- 93

Steal Rating- 93

Speed and Quickness Rating- 95 & 96

Mid Range- 3 Point Rating- 68 & 61

Pass Rating- 95

 Chris Paul:

Ball Handling Rating- 97

Steal Rating- 97

Speed and Quickness Rating- 94 & 97

Mid Range- 3 Point Rating- 84 & 85

Pass Rating- 94

 Deron Williams:

Ball Handling Rating-96

Steal Rating- 72

Speed and Quickness Rating- 92 & 95

Mid Range- 3 Point Rating- 81 & 80

Pass Rating- 95

So here it is, my list of these point guards rated 1-5:

1. Chris Paul

2. Russell Westbrook

3. Derrick Rose

4. Deron Williams

5. Rajon Rondo

Reasons why my list is the way it is:

1. Chris Paul got first because he had higher ratings in almost every category that I specified and his steal rating of 97 is a must have on a team. He is also a knock down shooter even in traffic as I have found in the game while playing with him.

2. Russell Westbrook got second because his steal rating is 22 points above Derrick Rose’s. His other ratings were very close to Derrick Rose’s besides his steal, so that’s why he got second.

3. Derrick Rose got third because as I stated above, his steal rating is really low for a point guard. Somemay say that Deron Williams ratings are the same if not better than Derrick Rose’s. I picked Derrick Rose because his speed and quickness is just a little bit better which does make a significant difference in the game.

4. Deron Williams got fourth because his mid range and 3 point ratings are significantly higher than Rajon Rondo’s.

5. Rajon Rondo got fifth just because of his mid range and 3 point ratings. Being able to shoot consistently with your point guard is a big part of the game and Rajon Rondo does not bring that to the dinner table.

Feel free to leave comments below! If you disagree, tell me the order you would put them in and why!

    ahhhhhhh…Can somebody say Brandon Jennings?

    • Flight White says:

Brandon Jennings didn't have the ratings I was looking for. His pass and ball handling ratings are lower than all 5 mentioned above and his medium range shot is only the same as Rondo. Rondo had just slight better ratings than him or else Brandon Jennings would've made the top 5.

I totally agree with you about Brandon Jennings. Dude is bum, but I got something for you and I am interested to see your response. Now the biggest highlight of this NBA 2k12 was legends! So you probably already know where I am going with this one, but how about the greatest pg of all time? Magic Johnson?

I totally agree with your top 5. The only thing I would changes is the ranking. I would put Russel Westbrook and Derrick Rose ahead of Paul because they finish harder at the rim than CP3. I.E. they can actually dunk. Rating aside the problem with Paul when you drive is that you are prone to getting blocked a lot. That's just my opinion though.

    • Flight White says:

I totally agree about Westbrook and Rose being able to finish at the rim better than Chris Paul, but that doesn't make them a better all around player to me. Getting blocked can get really annoying when not using a point guard that can leap, I totally understand that. But there are just more factors than finishing at the rim. Like I said in Chris Paul's description, I have found him to be a dead eye shooter even with traffic when playing with him. Why need to drive to the basket when all you can do it shoot it in their face? ;)

Great and logical response! Loved it!

Hey man, Are you going to do any more positions? I like to play more so with SG's and centers! Hint! Hint!
