In what was soon to be dubbed a ‘Perfect Game’ for Detroit Tigers Pitcher Armando Galarraga, was quick flushed down the toilet by a call that would be regretted only minutes later. In an interview before media Jim Joyce admits to it being a bad call only to receive a fierce all out tongue lashing for a cardinal mistake.
In such a situation, those calls are usually given to the fielding team. Two outs in the ninth, three run lead. a not so close play at the bag. This is almost always given to the fielding team out of respect for their hard fought victory. But not in this case, Joyce decided to take away a perfect game from a pitcher who no one even would have expected to throw perfect game.
