NBA 2k10 Online (XBOX 360)

I’ve had the opportunity of playing several games so far online and since doing this there are quite a few issues that have presented themselves.  I’m interested to know whether its only me that noticed them because of my style of play (does it just leave certain openings?) or are these things people across the board are noticing.

Long Connection times

This seems to be the continued trend for games this year.  It first started with Halo 3, got worse with GOW2 (I actually stopped playing the ranked head to head because of this), and now has made its way on to 2k10.  NBA 2k9 had its share of connection issues but no moment was as bad as it has begun with 2k10.  In all honestly it take me about 7 or so retry before I either give up or get connected to a game.  For some people this isn’t an issue, for others we can’t help but remember the days of lobby and you could select you challenges.  I mean the plus side to these random assigned matches is that you can now player some of the higher ranked player early on.  For those of you who know, in the lobby days you had to be ranked high to play someone high because it was rare that they would accept the challenge of a low ranking player. Despite the whole connection issues lobbies were also good places for smack talk.  Nonetheless I would be interested to see what the new VIP lobby looks like and how it functions.  I guess I’ll have to wait until some more of the limited edition copies come out.

Displaying player ranks.

It’s kind of weird.  You select the option to play a ranked match but you never know your own rank or the rank of the player that you are playing.  I mean this one is self-explanatory, no real need to elaborate.  2k team am I missing something here?

Long Connection Times

Yeah I know I already touched on this one but I had this article saved for a bit and cam to finish it off and I had to revisit this issue because it’s just getting progressively worse.  For the last week or so I have been limited to playing like 3 ranked games tops.  The reason behind this one being that I refuse to continuously waste all sorts of time retrying to connect to game.  This kind of brings me back to the point of why lobbies are still a good idea.  This whole random selection things is definitely not running anywhere close to efficiency.  I really think this need to be revisited and addressed by the 2k team.

Connection Slow Down in Games

Yeah I know the first thing some of you are going to say is that its my crappy connection.  But guess what it’s the only game that I play online and have these issues.  But its not like it’s a continuous thing throughout the game it’s pretty weird how it happens.  I  noticed that when myself of the other player calls a time out, immediately following that timeout the game starts to move in slow motion.  However if either of us calls another timeout the game goes back to normal pace.  I really hate having to waste a timeout like that but I would much rather play on a normal speed than my game taking three times as long to finish, and all of my passes being telegraphed in slow motion.  Is there anyone else finding this issue?  Probably only the guys that play me right!

I am sure there are lots more issues out there but this i just a few that I’ve experienced in such a short time.
